Believe Right!

The Parable of the Lost Sheep shows us that the Lord our Shepherd is not in the business of disflocking, beating or abandoning His sheep that go astray or leaving us to the devices of the devourer. His eyes never leave us. His rod and His staff they comfort us. Covered on every side! There is comfort in knowing that as Christ's sheep, He saves us ALWAYS, even when all seems to be going downhill, the troubles are of our own making and it looks like the lion already has us in its mouth. Remember what David said to Saul as Saul tried to dissuade him from facing Goliath in 1 Samuel 17: 34-37: "34....David said, “I take care of my father's sheep. Any time a lion or a bear carries off a lamb, 35 I go after it, attack it, and rescue the lamb. Believers, consider Psalm 94:19 - "In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul." See the Good News Translation: "Whenever I am anxious and worried, You comfort me and make me glad." This verse is from a Psalm of David. But how does this "comfort" come about for us when we are beset with worries and anxieties that lead to depression (See Proverbs 12:25- "Anxiety leads to depression, but a good word encourages." )? We find this in another Psalm of David, the popular Psalm 23: "4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." How we are comforted in Christ is expressed in the relationship between a real life shepherd and his sheep. Who is Wisdom? Believers, the Book of Proverbs talks a lot about Wisdom. But who is this Wisdom that is the principal thing? He is none other than our Saviour Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says of our Heavenly Father: “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—“ See the Good News Translation: “But God has brought you into union with Christ Jesus, and God has made Christ to be our wisdom. By Him we are put right with God; we become God's holy people and are set free.” By Jesus Christ, “Wisdom from God” Himself, we are put right with God, become sanctified and redeemed. Wisdom is not something that we can muster up or acquire through human effort, hard work and experience. Wisdom is not knowledge. Believers in Christ, the power that saves and heals us is the same power that sets things right in our lives, causing us to live right, reign over death and do God's good pleasure. See Christ's counsel to us in John 6: "Jesus said, “Don’t bicker among yourselves over Me. You’re not in charge here. The Father who sent Me is in charge. He draws people to Me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come. Only then do I do my work, putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End."" Consider "setting them on their fee t." What does this mean? It has to do with the relationship that Christ the Good Shepherd has with we His sheep (all who have Christ as their righteousness and strength.) Believers, when we think of the above, we often think in terms of conveying the message of the cross to the world. But there is much more to it. Did you know that the lifestyle/resources available to ambassadors in their host countries do not depend on the resources available in the host country? This is because their provisions come from their home country. For instance, an ambassador who is from a rich country will still live an affluent lifestyle in a host country that is poor. In 2 Corinthians 5:20, Paul described believers as "Christ's ambassadors." As the righteousness of God in Christ, our resources and provisions (including good health, peace, wisdom, mental rest and financial comfort) come from the Kingdom of God and not from this world. As citizens of the Lord's heavenly Kingdom and ambassadors of Christ here on earth, we also have diplomatic immunity when it comes to the Law of Moses. We are not under Law but under Grace. Sometimes, just as Peter did as he walked (on water) towards our Saviour, we take our eyes off our Saviour, focus on our problems, and they loom large... and then we begin to feel like we're sinking and about to drown in our problems! No believer on earth is immune to this. Don't feel that you are alone in this. NEVER feel like Christ is doing SMH at you at these times of weakness. His strength is made perfect in weakness- your weakness. He will save you, as He saved sinking Peter. We often think "If this obstacle was not there, I would be able to do this and that." Let's understand that our ability to walk on water does not depend on the condition of the sea. Whether the sea is stormy or calm, we cannot of ourselves walk on water. Believers, do you remember the story of Balak and Balaam and how the former hired the latter to curse the children of Israel? Balaam tried to curse them from three different locations but ended up blessing them according to God’s will instead.
