Who or what is Wisdom as described in Proverbs 8?

The entire Book of Proverbs speaks a lot about Wisdom and how Wisdom is the principal thing. Wisdom is none other than our Saviour Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says of our Heavenly Father in Him: “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God —and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—“ See the Good News Translation: “ But God has brought you into union with Christ Jesus, and God has made Christ to be our wisdom. By Him we are put right with God; we become God's holy people and are set free.” By Jesus Christ, “ Wisdom from God” Himself, we are put right with God, become sanctified and redeemed. Wisdom isn’t something that man can muster up or acquire through human effort, hard work or experience. Wisdom is not knowledge. A person can acquire all the knowledge and experience in the world and still not have wisdom. This is how come such a thing as oncologists who smoke exist. Bear in mind that the reason why any who is a non-doer of...

What does Noah and the ark represent?

The entire Old Testament is all about Jesus Christ and our salvation in Him. A quick background: Christ Himself taught the Gospel from the Old Testament on resurrection day. Here's what He did as He walked with the two despondent disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24-  " 27 Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures." That same evening, the two disciples went to Jerusalem to share their experience of Christ with the other disciples. Jesus appeared to them there; check out what He did in verse 45 (MSG)-  “He went on to open their understanding of the Word of God, showing them how to read their Bibles this way.” There was no New Testament at this time. Christ taught His disciples about Himself from the Old Testament. Christ teaches us to read the Old Testament by bringing Him out of all the Scriptures. In one of the most popular passages of the New Testament, Christ Hi...

What do you think about so many churches closing due to the coronavirus?

It’s the same as schools or cinemas closing due to the virus - it’s the sensible thing to do. Psalm 91 tells us: "Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you,Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone." This is God's word in Psalm 91. But there is a background to this truth which might make many miscontrue it. I’ve seen some non-believers deride (usually) churches for shutting down meetings with statements such as “ Can’t your miracle-working God save you from infection?” and even use this logic as leverage to push “Science-based” unbelief; as if there were no Science teachers, doctors, physicists, etc who believe in Jesus. Like coronavirus, belief in God/unbelief cuts across all human demographics: from Nobel Prize-winning scien...

What is the meaning of 1 Peter 1:10-12? Why does Peter say the Spirit of Christ in the O.T. prophets pointed to Jesus as the Messiah, and that He was sent to die to save believers from sin? Is Peter using the O.T. scriptures correctly?

1 Peter 1:10-12 --  "Regarding this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace [of God] that was intended for you, searched carefully and inquired [about this future way of salvation], 11 seeking to find out what person or what time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glories [destined] to follow." Isaiah was one of such prophets. He prophesied about the sufferings of Christ (in Isaiah 53) and the glories that will follow (in Isaiah 54.) Isaiah 53 is where we get the popular verses: 4"Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all....

The truth behind James 1:12- "Blessed is the man who endures temptation..."

James 1:12-  "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." Many interpret this verse as: " The man who strives with all his will-power to overcome the temptation to commit sin will receive God's approval." Not so, or else Peter would not have received God's approval after his three-time denial of Christ. Also, going by this misinterpretation, no one descended of Adam can that can “endure” to the point of getting God's approval because the arm of flesh (dependence on human effort at obedience) will fail. See Romans 3:20- "For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the Law commands." The Law's command is basically abstinence from sin. No amount of abstinence from sin can earn anybody God's aapproval. Plus the reason why we are not committing particular sins and why many think they can curb sins ...
