Grace is our Teacher, not you or I
Beloved, our job as believers in Christ is to point and keep on pointing the sinner (and ourselves) to Christ as Saviour from sins, earthly ills and death, same way Moses did the Israelites that were bitten by fiery serpents in the wilderness. Christ giving us this typology in John 3 is not by any means meaningless- 14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." The bronze serpent is a type of Christ lifted up for our salvation from sin and its deathly symptoms such as disease, lack, unemployment and every earthly ill.
