Who is "he who overcomes"?

Believers, the Lord says to you "Fear not." It's not up to you to save yourself from sin and eternal damnation; our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the one who does it all. This is the reason for His coming: to save us. See this in the most popular verse: John 3:16- "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." In Revelation 21:7-8, Christ says "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 2:11 says "He who overcomes (is victorious) shall in no way be injured by the second death." But who is he who overcomes? See who in 1 John 5:5: "Who is he who overcomes the world, bu

Choosing the right partner....

Believers, are you on the lookout for a life partner? God knows what you need 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 70, 100 years from now. But us? We look for the one that can cook, has a good job, is handsome, is beautiful, is slim, is buff, is gentle, has self-control, is "submissive," is courteous, can't hurt a fly, has potential.... an endless list of things that can change at the drop of a hat! We see marriages unfolding before our eyes everyday. Some women feel like poisoning their husbands that they would have done anything for just two years ago. Some men will eagerly wolf down poisoned food knowing that it has been poisoned....because they can't stand to live with the woman any longer:) Where did all of that initial buzz of attraction go? Believer, possessing certain special qualities, skills or following any “Seven Steps for Choosing a Life Partner and Having a Successful Marriage” can only take one so far in holding things together. Here's Who holds it together:

Beware of "If you are the Son of God..." preachers

Believers, anyone who makes we who believe feel that we are not children of God for whatever reason at all or makes us feel the need to do things to prove that we are children of God is simply echoing the words that Satan spoke to Jesus in the wilderness: “If you are the Son of God….” John 1:12 tells us what makes us children of God- not our obedience to the law or tithe payment: “But all who did receive Him, He gave them— the ones believing in His name— the right to become children of God,” But some false doctrine preachers make you feel that you are no longer a child of God because you did or didn't do certain things that they are prescribing. Such try to make you unsure of your status as a child of God and tell you to prove it with works, just as the devil did when he tested our Saviour in the wilderness. Consider the story of Abraham whom God declared righteous apart from works (because he believed God) and was promised Isaac, just as we who are in Christ have the

The truth about the people who "loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil."

Believers, consider John 3:19: "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil." We often interpret those who "loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil" as people who outwardly commit many sins, don't observe to do what is written in the law, don't pay tithes and have many bad addictions. But Jesus wasn't referring to this group who certainly did not hate Him when He walked the earth as Man. When Christ the Light of the world walked the earth as Man and taught THE GOSPEL, religious, law-toting people tried to kill the Light. The scummy tax collectors and notorious sinners followed the Light! No one had to force them to go to hear Jesus. They desired to hear! See Luke 15: "1 Many dishonest tax collectors and other notorious sinners often gathered around to listen as Jesus taught the people." 2 And the Pharisees and

"Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

Believers, I believe this has got everything to do with staving off depression. Proverbs 12:25 says "Anxiety leads to depression, but a good word encourages." Now consider Psalm 94:19, written by David- "In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul." See the Good News Translation: "Whenever I am anxious and worried, You comfort me and make me glad." But how does this "comfort" come about for us in dark times when we are beset with worries and anxieties that lead to depression? This is where "Your rod and Your staff" come into play. It speaks of Christ's protection in dark times. But how? See this in the popular Psalm 23: "4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." How we are comforted in Christ is expressed in the relationship between a real life shepherd and his sheep

"Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!" What it means for us in Christ today

Believers, have you ever wondered how the prophecy of Zechariah to Jeshua and Zerubbabel and the Jews' resumption and completion of the building of the Temple of God after years of inactivity applies to you in Christ today? It's the same prophecy from where we get: "Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!" The whole story is a picture of the effect our Abba Father's abundance of grace and His gift of righteousness to us in Christ. It shows us how, with these gifts, the Accuser (Satan's) accusations are useless/powerless against us. The story is recorded in the Book of Ezra (please read this fantastic account!) but let's do quick a recap: God led Cyrus, the king of Persia, to send the Jews back to Jerusalem in Judah to rebuild the His Temple after 70 years of their captivity in Babylon, in fulfillment of the word of the Lord by Jeremiah. Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah and Jeshua, the high priest, along with th

What is spiritual warfare? Is it fought by human effort and how do we fight?

Pretty loooong answer:): Consider Ephesians 6: “10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and suppl
