Understanding Hebrews 10:26– “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,”— What is this willful sin?

The verse under consideration is— “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” The New Living Translation says—  “Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.” How many times have we heard this verse thrown carelessly from some pulpits— carelessly because it is usually preached as a threat for God’s punishment on those who commit acts of sin such as stealing or eating too much after becoming a Christian. Beloved, nothing could be further from the Truth! As if the one who is misinterpreting the verse has not sinned since he became a Christian, plenty times even!
