John 10:10 says "the Thief (Satan) comes to steal, kill and destroy, I came that the might have life, and might have it more abundantly." Is the Devil the one behind all human misery?

Would you blame a hateful prosecuting attorney for aiming to put you behind bars for crimes that you are truly guilty of committing? Would you blame same prosecutor for your ignorance concerning the demands of the law as well as your rejection of the Advocate/Legal Counsel and the Witness that the Righteous Judge Himself provided for you? Eve blamed Satan. Adam blamed God and the Eve in one breath- “The woman whom You gave me….”
Satan isn't called “accuser of our brethren for no reason. He is an unscrupulous and opportunistic prosecuting attorney who will go to devious lengths to get convictions, especially watering down God’s law to deceive many into believing that man is able to meet its righteous demands and tricking people into accepting and offering to God useless plea bargains based on man’s past good behaviour and promises to be more obedient in the future; God’s law does not consider such barter nonsense. Either obey all (no one can) or perish.
Satan’s power is no different from that of a prosecuting attorney in a court of law. In Israel today, prosecuting attorneys are referred to as HaSatanHaSatan is literally “prosecutor at law" in Hebrew. His work is to gather evidence against man, accuse based on this evidence and put man behind the bars of death. And his weapon is the law which condemns the best of us and which many cling to as their standard for obedience. God's word says in Romans 3:
“23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
No matter the degree of sinfulness of man, of ourselves, none of us meet God's glorious standards. All who depend on their ability to keep the law, good works or lack of sins are subject to its judgments and will pay the wages of sin: Death preceded by its symptoms of fear, anxiety, depression, sickness, stupid mistakes, lack and all earthly ills in general. We know from Christ's response to Pontius Pilate’s question in John 19 that sin does have degrees of greatness:
“10 Why don’t you talk to me?” Pilate demanded. “Don’t you realize that I have the power to release you or crucify you?” 11 Then Jesus said, “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”
Now James 2:10 says: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law yet stumble at one point, he is guilty of all.”
Understand James 2:10 in terms of “all have sinned.” Without God's gift of righteousness to us in Christ, the sinner who only lied about his location on the phone for a good reason is just as guilty as the world's vilest mass-murdering pedophile. The Law of Moses demands that every sin be punished to the uttermost and James 2:10 says if you break one, you are guilty of all. This does not seem fair, until we realise why you and I are not wallowing in heinous sins right now: 1 Corinthians 10:12-13-
12 "So beware if you think it could never happen to you, lest your pride becomes your downfall. 13 We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust Him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously."
If God was not screening and filtering our tests and trials, like Peter who thought he could keep the law but denied Christ thrice, we would all see the extent of the sinfulness of human nature expressed in ourselves. All of us. Paul addressed this in Romans 1 where a group who “suppress the truth” of righteousness by faith (verses 16-19) devolved into sin after “God lifted off His restraining hand…” —
“24 This is why God lifted off His restraining hand and let them have full expression of their sinful and shameful desires…”
All it takes to put anyone on the wrong side of the law and thus subject to Satan’s accusation is unfavourable circumstances or being tempted beyond what one can bear. The arm of flesh (human effort at being godly like God) will fail as it failed Adam and Eve in Eden. But for God’s mercy, we were all destined to devolve into sins and to perish and not have everlasting life. Because God so loves us, He gave His own Son to bear our entire lifetime of sins and to die the death that the law demanded of us for our sins (Hebrews 9:27–28.) And this is how God sees all who truly believe in Jesus- Romans 5:9-
"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."
This is the only brand of righteousness that suffices for God the Righteous Judge to see man as godly/righteous and it is free for all who believe, no matter who we are or how vile our sins are. In Christ, God sees us as righteous, even though we are guilty of many sins. This is not so that we should have zero good works and continue to wallow in sins as antichrist pastors and their followers love to imply. Rather, it is so that we should live in triumph over sin and death through Christ:
"And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ." Romans 5:16-17.
See Romans 3 again: “23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
All have sinned. And the wages of sin is death. God's Righteousness and Justice demand that every sin be punished to the uttermost - even we would be appalled if a human judge just let convicted criminals walk free. One has to keep the whole law in order for any form of obedience to matter. But Romans 3:20 tells us:
”For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.“
God saw how hopeless our case was and because He so loved us, He sent His own Son to pay the price for our sins and grant us everlasting righteousness apart from works through Christ’s one sacrifice for sins, good for all time.” See Romans 3 for God’s super-abounding Grace in action:
”19 Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
This is the word that Satan came to steal. In Christ, we are not under law but under Grace where sin has no dominion over us- “For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under Grace.” Romans 6:14. Antichrist pastors and their followers preach this verse in reverse. Such push the flock to do the seemingly good thing of keeping the law/depending on their human effort (arm of flesh) for the attainment of godliness as Satan did to Eve and are very quick to deride “that message of Grace” as license to sin or a cop out with regard to producing good deeds. But beloved of God, Grace is a Person. His name is Jesus Christ. Titus 2:11 says of Him:
"God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone."
Verse 14 of the same Titus 2 says: "He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."
Those antichrist responses to God’s saving Grace from even some pastors e.g -
"So you are saying once we are saved, because the righteousness of Christ covers us we should continue in sin?”-
- God’s word proves them to be quite foolish. How can one continue to live in sin when He has Grace Himself (Jesus Christ) who came to save us from every kind of sin as his Saviour? Christ Himself tells us in (John 6:43-46 MSG) what He is doing in the life of every believer:
Jesus said, “Don’t bicker among yourselves over Me. You’re not in charge here. The Father who sent Me is in charge. He draws people to Me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come. Only then do I do My work, putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End."”
Beloved of God, how can these two things - being saved from sins/put together by Christ AND continuing to live in sin - how can they co-exist? How can the blind receive sight from Christ and continue to be blind? Believers, flee from any ”pastor” that posits this kind of horrid antichrist argument that says that righteousness in Christ is licence to commit sin. What a horrid antichrist doctrine it is. Let's take our blessed brains to church. Saviour from sins is Christ’s key job description- Matthew 1:21-
She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Not every gathering in God's name is the “assembly of the brethren.”
Those who do not believe that they are justified/made right with God freely by His Grace are under/subject to the Law and consequently, prosecution by Satan the accuser of our brethren and the ensuing judgment for sins- the same kind of death (process) that Adam died: condemnation, fear, stress, fatigue, depression, sickness, stupid mistakes, lack and all earthly ills are “death begun.” Such wrongly believe that their human effort at keeping the law or their works count towards their justification before God the Righteous Judge. Notice no Christ as anything in this situation? No one can stand by himself or what he can do by his own will-power as he stands accused in this trial. David prayed to the Lord in Psalm 143:2-
"Don’t bring your servant to trial, since in Your sight no one alive would be considered righteous."
Many churchgoers are smug in their self-righteous works because they are not on trial right now- much like Peter who boasted in his strength to stand until his hour of trial came. Or the Pharisees who could not stone the adulteress when they realized how sinful they were. This is similar to how spectators in an earthly legal proceeding don’t feel the pressure that the accused does. All of the spectators have sinned. Many spectators have committed even worse sins than the accused yet sometimes, we still point fingers:)
Better to be armed with the armor that God Himself provided through Christ because Satan will tear any human effort/arm of flesh-based defense to shreds. The law condemns the best of us but Grace saves the worst of us, even from our sins. Only the gift of righteousness that proceeds from the obedience of Christ suffices for God the Righteous Judge to declare any righteous. Romans 8 tells us:
Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love to be His? God Himself is the judge who has issued His final verdict over them—“Not guilty!”
Whatever thing a person thinks he has to do by his own might (arm of flesh) in addition to what Christ has done to notch up points of righteousness before God the Righteous Judge or in order to deserve to “not perish but have everlasting life” is the law. We are declared righteous (not guilty) in God's sight through the blood of the Lamb alone with no (self)righteous works additives which Isaiah 64:6 describes as “a menstrual rag" in God's sight.
We who testify to the truth of righteousness through the blood of the Lamb or have this truth as the word of our testimony overcome/conquer Satan "the accuser of our brethren" that keeps on bringing charges against us. Now, Revelation 12 begins to make sense:
"10 Then I heard a strong (loud) voice in heaven, saying, Now it has come—the salvation and the power and the kingdom (the dominion, the reign) of our God, and the power (the sovereignty, the authority) of His Christ (the Messiah); for the accuser of our brethren, he who keeps bringing before our God charges against them day and night, has been cast out!
11 And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]."
Spiritual warfare is a legal battle that takes place in the "court of Law" that is the mind. Satan the accuser/prosecutor came to steal, kill and destroy. Before Satan can kill and destroy, he first has to steal the word: Righteousness by faith. See our heavenly Father’s love for us in Romans 5:9-
"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."
God is the Righteous Judge who has declared all believers in Christ as righteous/justified/not guilty through the blood of Jesus. See Roman 8:33-
"Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love to be His? God Himself is the judge who has issued His final verdict over them—“Not guilty!”"
Christ is our Advocate and Bearer of/atoning sacrifice for our sins- "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:1-2.
Beloved of God, all have sinned. No amount of obeying the law or doing atonement for your own sins can suffice to escape the accuser's legal shenanigans and the judgment that comes with it. ONLY Christ's blood will suffice for God the Righteous to pronounce any "Not guilty." And through Him, God has provided His Salvation freely for all who believe.
The Holy Spirit is the Witness who witnesses/testified to the truth that God does not remember the sins of all who believe in Jesus Christ: See the witness/testimony of the Spirit of Truth to all who believe in Jesus Christ in Hebrews 10:17 based on Christ's finished work as outlined in Hebrews 10:12-18 below-
"12 whereas Christ, having offered the one sacrifice [the all-sufficient sacrifice of Himself] for sins for all time, sat down [signifying the completion of atonement for sin] at the right hand of God [the position of honor], 13 waiting from that time onward until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14 For by the one offering He has perfected forever and completely cleansed those who are being sanctified [bringing each believer to spiritual completion and maturity]. 15 And the Holy Spirit also adds His testimony to us [in confirmation of this]; for after having said,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
After those days, says the Lord:
I will imprint My laws upon their heart,
And on their mind I will inscribe them [producing an inward change],”
He then says,
17 “And their sins and their lawless acts
I will remember no more [no longer holding their sins against them].”
18 Now where there is [absolute] forgiveness and complete cancellation of the penalty of these things, there is no longer any offering [to be made to atone] for sin."
Believer in Christ, because our Saviour Jesus shed His blood for us, God sees us as righteous; He is no longer holding against us our sins that Satan accuses we the brethren of. This is the testimony/witness of the Holy Spirit to us- the word of our testimony whenever Satan the accuser of the brethren tries to stick us with charges in order to label us guilty as well as get us to start doing things in order to be good with God (thus rejecting Christ as our Advocate and Bearer of sins.)
Condemnation and judgment (God's wrath that many are trying to escape with useless 70-days fasts and other human effort-driven activities ) follow all who put up even a smidgen of their (self)righteous works in their defense because doing so is the way to get cut off from Christ our Advocate and Bearer of sins:
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s Grace.” Galatians 5:4.
Indulging in human effort-driven acts of righteousness in order to get God to bless is to say that what Christ did for us is not good enough. It seems like the godly thing to do, but it is simply the same deceit that Satan used to deceive Eve in Eden- try to be godly (be like God) by human effort. The result is still the same as it was back then- being cut of from Jesus Christ the Tree of Life/sin and death having dominion. Satan knows this. He knows that the arm of flesh will fail, just as Peter‘s did after he put confidence in his will-power to not deny Christ.
As he did with Eve, Satan goads man into pridefully thinking that he can be sinless/righteous/godly (be like God) by human effort, this so that he can swoop in to legally accuse those who trust in their human effort/arm of flesh to make them godly/right with God; just as he did to Judas who tried to restore himself into God's good graces with his human effort at restitution after he sinned. As it was with Judas, depression and suicidal thoughts often follow such who reject Christ's sacrifice by trying to get right with God or get Him to bless through human effort-driven acts of righteousness.
Even non-believers are not spared this agony of the effect of self-righteousness. What do we think is the major cause of depression and suicide even among non-believers? It is guilt for sins, fear, anxiety, hopelessness and sorrow in the heart for sins aka not measuring up to particular standards - no different from what happened to Judas who was full of remorse and blamed himself for his sin. The word "sin" is translated from the Greek word Hamartia- literally "miss the mark."
Satan is the "Prosecutor at law" in this court that is the mind. Satan is not called “the accuser of the brethren” for nothing; HaSatan is literally "prosecutor at law" in Hebrew. Prosecuting attorneys in Israel today are referred to as HaSatan. Satan's weapon to accuse is the Law that condemns the best of those who try to be righteous/godly by keeping it or have any business with it. Believer, for we who are in Christ, Satan the accuser has been disarmed of the weapon that he uses to accuse and heap blame on us and subsequently devour- the Law. See Colossians 2:
"13 At one time you were dead in your sins. Your desires controlled by sin were not circumcised. But God gave you new life together with Christ. He forgave us all our sins. 14 He wiped out what the law said that we owed. The law stood against us. It judged us. But He has taken it away and nailed it to the cross. 15 He took away the weapons of the powers and authorities. He made a public show of them. He won the battle over them by dying on the cross."
See the AMPC: “13 And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross. 15 [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].“
Satan is the "accuser of the brethren" who, through his agents masquerading as pastors behind some pulpits, goes about like a roaring lion seeking those who reject God's "not guilty" verdict through Christ and depend on their ability to obey the law/do good things in order to be free of guilt. And his weapon is the law. Recall Satan did not tempt Eve to fornicate or steal. He made her believe that she could be godly (be like God) by her own human strength. Satan's strategy has not changed since Eden. See the forbidden fruit as a picture of the law that many churchgoers are trying to keep in order to be godly in Romans 7:8-12 (MSG.)
Satan goes about like a roaring lion. But what is really like a roaring lion? See Proverbs 19:12:
The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion, But his favor is like dew on the grass.”
Satan (through his pastor agents) goes about peddling a message that is like the roaring of a lion aka God’s wrath. He tries to make the flock believe that the Lord God our King is angry with us and that His wrath will fall on believers in order to trick the flock into going back under Law (doing things to escape God’s wrath.) Only under Law can he can proceed to accuse/prosecute. This is how Satan devours. But God’s word says in Romans 5:9-
“…And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."
Through pastors and churchgoers who seem to be godly and seem to want you too to be godly (be like God,) Satan goes about telling people to try to be godly like God by their arm of flesh (human strength) which will fail, just as Peter's did after he boasted in his ability to not bear false witness against Christ (9th Commamdment.) Satan then asks to sift such who trust in their ability to obey the law like wheat. The arm of flesh will fail and when it does, Satan throws his fiery darts of accusation in order to condemn, usually from behind church pulpits. His fiery darts/tongues that accuse in court can only prosper in the lives of those who trust in their will-power to keep the law in order to be right with God the Righteous Judge.
Check out the following parties in the LAWSUIT of the life of man:
  • God the Righteous Judge.
  • Christ our Advocate and Bearer of sins.
  • The Holy Spirit who testifies in us and to us from the witness box of our hearts the Truth that is God's Grace.
  • Satan the accuser/prosecutor at law.
These are all judicial terms: Spiritual warfare is a legal battle where having perfect righteousness before God (not man) is the only Way to overcome the devices (accusations) of Satan. Anyone without God's gift of righteousness is subject to the curse. Satan knows this. This is why he and his "pastor" agents are constantly leading many on the wildgoose chase of indulging in attending monthly deliverance services to escape demonic attacks, fasting to break curse, keeping the Ten Commandments in order to be godly like God or sowing seeds to escape financial lack. All of these things point to obeying the law and doing its works in order to be godly (be righteous, healthy, rich, wise, perfect like God.) This is the same deathly false doctrine that Satan used to deceive Eve in Eden.
Such who follow their false teaching still carry about their guilt of sin and depend on their works to make them godly like God or to make God have a good opinion of them. Christ has been removed from their equation of salvation. Satan has a legal right to accuse and kill such. And the way he does this is to first steal the word of Christ from the flock. Beloved of God, by His Grace, let's not be found here. The word of Christ that Satan tries to steal so that he can kill and destroy is all about Righteousness by faith in Christ-
"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God." Romans 5:9.
Only those whose righteousness is A GIFT from the Lord can resist Satan's blamestorming weapon of fiery darts of accusation based on the Law and tongues that rise against mankind to condemn as we see in Isaiah 54:17-
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.”
See the HCSB version: "No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will refute any accusation raised against you in court. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from Me.” This is the Lord’s declaration."
Condemnation and judgment follow all who put a smidgen of trust in their human strength (arm of flesh) to get God to have a good opinion of them or be righteous in His sight. For all believers, our truth is that in Christ, God sees us as righteous only because of the shed blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ, “even though we are guilty of many sins"-
"And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.” Romans 5:16.
Stand before God the Righteous Judge as one who has even just a tiny bit of righteousness from obeying the law and He will be to you the Righteous Judge that "will by no means clear the guilty," and the wages of sin is death.
But stand before Him as a sinner through and through, without an iota of righteousness of your own and looking utterly to Christ as your Righteousness, Advocate and Bearer of sins for Salvation and He will be your Justifier. See Romans 4:5-
"But to the one who does not work [that is, the one who does not try to earn his salvation by doing good], but believes and completely trusts in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God)."
And God does not just leave us to wallow in sins now that we are under Grace. He made us His children. Believer, those sins that you struggle with and your lack of good works which antichrist pastors deceive you into believing that you can overcome by your arm of flesh (human strength) and thus be godly (be like God,) Christ came to free us from all of themTitus 2:14 says of Him:
"He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."
Antichrist churchgoers teach dependence on human strength at attaining godliness as Satan did to Eve. Such place the burden of salvation from sins on the helpless sinner, describe the truth of Grace as license to sin and preach that man can be godly by human effort at doing stuff, thus expressing their unbelief in Christ who came to free us from every kind of sin and cause us to live right. But God's word says differently-
"And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin.
Only by forsaking our own (self)righteousnesses and believing Jesus (having Him as our sole and utter Source of righteousness and strength) do we get to live in triumph over sin and death. This is the Good News. Following it is being doers of the word and not hearers alone, and this we do by Grace alone.
When your believing is right, right living will follow.
