God supplies us with the Holy Spirit and works miracles among us by the hearing of faith

Believers, now that we are in Christ, God supplies us with the Holy Spirit and works miracles among us by the hearing of faith, not by what we do or don't do (law-keeping). See Galatians 3:2-5 below.

Think what happens when a cup filled with dirt is placed under a high-pressure water faucet. The cup gets filled to overflowing, the dirt gets dislodged, rises to the surface and gets flushed out by the running water until there is nothing left of it in the cup - only clean water remains.

In the bible Christ uses water to typify the Holy Spirit. Remember His meeting with the Samaritan woman in John 4? Verse 14 says "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

We also see it in Ephesians 5:25-26 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,"

He fills us with living water (the Holy Spirit) so we never thirst again. He sanctifies and cleanses us with the washing of the water (the Spirit) by the Word (Himself) and this is how we are made whole (healed, free from sin and addiction, etc).

The Holy Spirit transforms us to the image of the glory of the Lord, clearing out the dirt in us and making us achieve the moral excellence that the Law demands without us even knowing it! Galatians 3:2-5 covers this analogy:

"This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—"

Walking in "the flesh" doesn't mean indulging in lust and such. It simply means doing things by our own strength and effort. This also relates to being carnally minded.

What many of us do is try to wash ourselves clean with our own righteousness (filthy rags); this is an effort in futility because the bible says in Galatians 2:16 that "...for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified."

Just in case you haven't made the connection, the cup that is being washed is you and I in Christ. The cup does not and cannot clean itself. The cup does not and cannot place itself under the faucet. The cup cannot make water come out of the faucet by any means at all. The water and miracles are freely given with Christ (Romans 8:32.) The cup cannot do anything at all without a Hand (our Lord God!) carrying it, placing it under the faucet, opening the faucet and making sure it stays under the faucet. The cup can do nothing, as it is written in John 15:5-

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

Believers, the blood of Jesus has already made us righteous, even though we sometimes can't feel or see it, especially when we've messed things up. We stand in the righteousness of Another - Jesus! Our feelings and emotions can waver depending on what circumstance we're faced with but His towards us will never change.

Believe that you are the righteousness of God in Christ and you will Live Right. Ask Him for a hearing heart and He will give it to you. It is His Spirit that transforms us to the image of His glory, not our efforts.

As we hear His word, He supplies His Spirit and works miracles among us. Also, faith comes by hearing (continuous hearing.) Even this He gives us grace to do.

If you don't believe it, just check out yours truly who was always looking for a means of escaping church and hated doing evangelism. I did nothing! How He turned my life around I have no idea:)

Bear in mind that God's word here is not the Law (Ten Commandments), which kills. It is the word of the Spirit which gives life. 2 Corinthians 3: 6 "who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."
