The goodness of God leads to repentance

Check out what Christ says about how and why His people believe and live right in John 6:44:

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him [giving him the desire to come to Me]; and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day."

See the MSG version: John 6:43-46 "Jesus said, “Don’t bicker among yourselves over Me. You’re not in charge here. The Father who sent Me is in charge. He draws people to Me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come. Only then do I do my work, putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End...."

See: “He draws people to Me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come.” Our believing is a gift without which we would never know the truth that makes us free. Our ability to live right is a result of Christ's work of "putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End."

We would be no different from the souls out there that don't believe or those that we see as "living in sin and having no heart for Christ" if He hadn't given us the desire to come to Him.

Realising this truth brings us down from any pedestals of morality that we might have erected for ourselves and makes it difficult for us to condemn or get tired of those who do not believe or are still living in sin. The desire to come to Christ is a gift from God.

In Christ, we find it hard to tell God's beloved who are living in sin things like "stop sinning and come to Christ, or else you will burn in hell!" This would be akin to telling a blind person: “See…or else.” See Matt. 1:21- "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

If we could stop sinning on our own, Jesus would not have needed to come and save us from our sins. To those who think that some sins are beneath them, the reason you are not committing particular sins is because a big enough trial has not come your way. Just ask Peter who denied Jesus three times after swearing that He would follow Him to prison and to death. The first denial was to a servant girl who accused him! No one put a gun to his head. The arm of flesh will fail. Don't trust in yourself. Trust in Jesus who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. He is the Way of escape with every trial.

When our eyes are opened to see how we are saved, like Christ in Matt. 9:36-37, we get to have compassion on those who are yet to be drawn to Christ our Shepherd:

“When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

37 He said to His disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.”

Like Christ, instead of seeing people who just refuse to believe or are living in sin, we see confused and helpless people, like sheep without a shepherd; we too would not believe if we had not been drawn/given the desire to come to Christ our Shepherd. See John 6:44.

With this understanding, our natural inclination would be to do what Christ says in verse 38 above: “So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.”

God hears the prayers of His children. If we really want our loved ones to see the Light and live right, let's pray to our Abba Father in Christ to touch their hearts and by His grace, tell them about His love and His power to save from sin and all that we need saving from.

If we get impatient at all, it won’t be with the unbelieving person who can do nothing to make himself believe. Christ does it all.

Thought to add:

The doctrine of “Obey the Ten Commandments or else bad things will happen to you and you will burn in hell” is not of Christ. The gospel is Grace: underserved, unmerited, unearned favour. From Zaccheus the tax collector to the woman caught in adultery, no sinner ever got the punishment that they deserved from Him in the gospels. They all got the good that they did not deserve as we who are in Him do today. The goodness of God leads to repentance, not threats of hell and mishap. Christ saves from sins (Matt. 1:21,) condemnation (Romans 8:1) and God's wrath (Romans 5:9.)
