Married? Jesus Christ the Way of escape from every trouble!

Believers, are you married or divorced and thinking of tying the knot again? A husband and wife are like a weightlifting team, sharing their triumphs and carrying their burdens together. The challenges of life represent the weights that they have to carry.

You and your spouse can make promises and resolutions regarding your union but you can't choose what weights life throws at you to carry. If the weights become too heavy for either party… well, every weightlifter has his/her limits. We see professional weightlifters dropping weights every time during competitions despite the rigorous training that they undergo. There's also the chance of something or someone tickling an exposed armpit as couples try to carry their weights:) There are so many factors at play here.

The reason why many marriages that are still intact are so is because the parties are yet to encounter a weight that they cannot carry. Best not to boast about "marriage skills" and how, unlike others, "we decided to make it work" despite all odds (aka weights.) All it takes for it to crash is a big enough trial/weight. Bear in mind that not everyone is the same size emotionally, just as weightlifters, boxers, etc are of different sizes and play in different categories. What person A sees as a trivial reason for a fight or even divorce might not be trivial in the least to person B.

Success isn't assured via acquisition and deployment of special marriage skills or by following any “Seven Steps.” The best efforts at keeping it together can only take one as far as how much weight one can carry. What to do when the burden is beyond what one can bear? This is how success is assured:

“Christ existed before all things, and in union with Him all things have their proper place.” Colossians 1:17.

See the Voice version: “He has always been! It is His hand that holds everything together.”

Christ holds it together for all who trust in Him and do not depend on their smarts to keep their home. He won't let life throw weights that you cannot bear at you and He deals with every weight you have to carry too: 1 Cor. 10:13-

“Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, He will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.”

Christ is the Way out of trials and testings. Don't ever trust yourself. Also see Proverbs 3:4-5 (TLB):

"If you want favor with both God and man, and a reputation for good judgment and common sense, then trust the Lord completely; don’t ever trust yourself. 6 In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success."
