Walking on water.

Sometimes, just as Peter did as he walked (on water) towards our Saviour, we take our eyes off our Saviour, focus on our problems, and they loom larger... and then we begin to feel like we're sinking! No believer on earth is immune to this. Don't feel that you are alone in this. NEVER feel like Christ is doing SMH at you at these times of weakness. His strength is made perfect in weakness. He will save you, as He saved sinking Peter.

We often think "If this obstacle was not there, I would be able to do this and that." Let's understand that our ability to walk on water does not depend on the condition of the sea. Whether the sea is stormy or calm, we cannot of ourselves walk on water. Whether our situation is easy or hard, we can do nothing without Christ. It all depends on us keeping our eyes on our Saviour Jesus Christ who is not limited by our situation, just as the Israelites of old looked expectantly at the bronze snake that Moses lifted up in the wilderness and were healed; and even this He gives us grace to do. Remember He said "Without me, you can do nothing." He delivers us. Remember when Peter started to sink (Matthew 14:)

"29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

The second you (by His grace) cry out "My Lord Jesus, save me," in the midst of your sinking situation, when your faith is low and you are desperate, He will not hesitate to save you. He will not let you be overcome by the waves. Imagine Peter first running to his some "holy" person to ask him how many days he should fast, what seed he should sow and prayer points for binding demons in order for Christ to save him from sinking, especially with him being right there in the presence of our Lord and our God Jesus Christ where all true believers always are today! Christ is ever-willing to save you. We are accepted in the Beloved, not our works.

On his own, Peter would never have been able to walk on water, whether calm or boisterous. Without Christ, he would still sink in calm water no matter what he did. The presence or absence of calmness in our lives do not determine our victory. Jesus does. Only in Him do we have victory and get to do what the world sees as impossible.

Whether you have great faith like the centurion or little faith like Peter, He will help you. He will perfect that faith that He gave to you. We can do nothing but that which He gives us grace to do.

Did you notice what happened after our Saviour saved Peter and they were in the boat? The wind died down! Many times, Christ's saving us from our troubles is so supernaturally natural that we think we got out of our problems all on our own. The disciples worshipped Jesus for what happened but we often chalk our victory down to our own efforts and the church daddy who gave us a list of things to do to be saved from our troubles, when all we need to do is call to our Saviour "Lord, save me." With Christ, God gives us all things freely (Romans 8:32) and not because we completed a checklist of lawful actions or did our best to obey the law.

Leaders, point the world that God so loved to our Saviour Jesus Christ when they come to you asking "What must I do to be saved?" Saved from sickness, lack, fear, demonic oppression, depression and eternal damnation. Doling out prescriptions of works and fasts, asking whether sinners have been obedient and telling them that they have to obey the law in order to touch Christ is the way to destruction. Don't think that sinners love to wallow in sins. Many are looking for the Way out. Telling people to keep the law in order to get right with God has this result:

"For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace."

Point all to what Christ has done and not what man must do. If you point them to works of the Law (anything - fasts, sow seeds, go to some mountain, whatever- done in order to get God to bless one or receive from Him,) there will always be that "one thing you lack" that will prevent their salvation from these things; like the rich young ruler in Luke 18, who realised that all his works at getting right with God were efforts in futility, they will become sorrowful. The law is not of faith. Doing all sorts to earn God's favour or get right with Him is being FAITHLESS. We cannot please God without faith.

Believers, keep your eyes on Jesus (only by His grace!) Remember Psalm 91:15-

"He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;..."

He cannot lie. He is always with us. He will never condemn you in your weaknesses. He will save you from your sins. See Matt. 1 21: "She will give birth to a Son and you will name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

To every believer who's weighed down by sins and addictions, including fear, worry, jealousy and depression (like Saul who was fearful and stressed out because he thought the burden of overcoming the Philistines was his and not the Lord's; later felt alone because God had rejected him and was jealous of David,) Christ will never reject you when you come to Him empty of your own righteousnesses, seeking His own; He will never tell you to "snap out of that jealousy and depression." He will carry you out of it. Saul did not have the Beloved to be accepted in. We are accepted in the Beloved - our Saviour Jesus Christ. Our unrighteousness qualifies us for acceptance! This is Grace- undeserved, unmerited favour.

Only by His grace do we stay still and see His salvation. Ask Him to help you to understand. No need to run from pillar to post when Salvation is right there with you. As He was with Peter as he was sinking, when you call to Him forsaking all human effort at salvation, little faith or great faith, He will uphold you with a "no questions asked" victorious right hand upholding, as it is written in Isaiah 41:10 (AMP)

‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you;

Do not be afraid, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you;

I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’

Believe Right and you will Live Right.
