If it matters to you, it matters to Christ.

Believers, Christ said "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28.

Sometimes, when we read this verse, we look back to the time when we first got saved and think the moment we got saved is where our receiving His rest ends; but our Saviour's rest goes "exceeding abundantly above" that. Everyday, we labour under the burden of things like work targets and deadlines, unpaid bills, the state of the economy, household chores, kids' homework, addictions-even to food, the future of our kids, dissatisfaction with the state of our lives, anxiety, depression and those thoughts about bad things happening to us or our family members that we just can't seem to shake off.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ wants us to bring these things to Him as soon as they pop up in our hearts and minds. He is the Way of escape. Every worry or anxiety presents an opportunity to talk with Him and give thanks too, because He has made provision for us already. See His word to us Philippians 4:6-

"Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life."

Also 1 Peter 5:7-

"Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully."

Now prayer doesn't have to mean booking an appointment to speak with God before kneeling for hours on some concrete floor in the middle of the night while saying the same things over and over at the appointed time with someone giving prayer points. It's pouring out our worries/thoughts and bringing our requests to our Abba Father in Christ who so loves us; anytime and anywhere. If my boys needed anything at all, I would expect them to ask me immediately and not wait for that crusade next week, giving the problem time to fester.

I remember my dad and how I did not need to book an appointment or starve myself before submitting my requests to him or going to chat with him. How much more our Father in heaven? In Christ, the Almighty God is our Daddy! In Christ, we are His "little children." Even we would prefer our little children's badly drawn/written birthday cards or letters over the best fancy, well-written Hallmark card.

If it matters to you, it matters to Christ. From you desiring to lose some weight to a family member that is about to undergo brain surgery , nothing that concerns you is too small for His attention. Remember, our Saviour Jesus Christ Himself says to us: "...you are worth more than many sparrows."

Right believing always produces right living
