How to live in triumph over sin.

Jesus saves from sins. Matthew 1:21 says: "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because He will save his people from their sins.”

No amount of trying to get one's act together, fasting, doing good deeds or keeping the Ten Commandments can make anyone righteous, deserving of God's blessings or Rapture-ready. None of these things amount to anything if they are done in order to get into God's good books, "For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are." Romans 3:20.

There is only one way to be righteous in the sight of God: by Christ's obedience, not ours, "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous." Romans 5:19.

In fact, keeping the law in a bid to get right with God has a deathly effect, "For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace." Galatians 5:4.

But does this mean that we are at liberty to wallow in sin? Certainly not! Many people think we grace children just want to wallow in sin 😊but nothing could be further from the truth. Christ is the Way out of sin. Christ died to redeem (buy us back) from the lawless deeds that hold us captive. According to Titus 2:14-

"He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."

Christ changes us; makes us whole. Saves us from our sins. He makes us committed to doing good deeds.

Why would Christ use the very sins that He came to save us from as an excuse for not saving us? This is akin to an oncologist father refusing to treat his beloved child that has cancer...because the child has cancer. The child cannot treat himself. Without treatment, the cancer will metastasize and the child will die. But in church today, the sick child (sinner) is being told to rid himself of the cancer (sin) that is killing him, and that his father will punish him if he does not make himself cancer-free. This is not grace and truth that came through Jesus Christ. This is the law. The letter kills. Worse, it is being mixed with grace: neither cold nor hot.

Believers, believe right. Beware of those that say you can overcome those sins that you are trying so hard to overcome by your own power and condemn you for your weaknesses; telling you "how can God bless you when you are still doing this and that" but never pointing you to Christ as the one who saves from sin. Matthew 1:21 says: "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” If we could save ourselves from sin and its destructive effects, why did Jesus come to save us?

Believers, believe right. How to live in triumph over sin? Stop doing and start believing and you will do exploits, yet not you but Christ in you. By God's grace, stop depending on your own righteousnesses from works of the law and receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness that Christ died that we might have. This is the only way to live in triumph over sin. See Romans 5:17-

"For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ."

Many people do not yet realise that sins are prisons and getting out requires the death of the sinner, a death that Christ died for all. No one can attain freedom from sins by their own power. If this was possible, Jesus would not have needed to give His life to save us from the very same sins. If you can save yourself and make yourself Rapture-worthy by your own effort at doing right, you don't need Jesus. He didn't come to save such who can "maintain their salvation." He came for the sick!

We often tell ourselves and others "I can never do something like that;" the same thing Peter did before he denied Jesus....three times. The reason that we are not committing particular sins is because we have not been tempted beyond what we can bear regarding those sins. In Christ, the Lord our Shepherd (Christ Himself) keeps us from going astray.

The Holy Spirit will teach you all things.

Believe Right and you will Live Right.
