Christ's gift of "Neither do I condemn you" makes us "go and sin no more."

Believers, remember Romans 8:1-

"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Many in the church interpret this verse as "There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus as long as they do not sin." Believers, let's take our blessed brains to church! If you have no sin, why should there be condemnation for you? Why do you need Jesus? This verse is written for we believers who, of ourselves, don't have it all together but whose righteousness is found in Christ.

Believers, don't be deceived. The devil is still pushing the same agenda that he did with Eve and straight from the pulpit too: preaching that people can be like God (be godly) through human effort. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is a picture of the law, which gives the knowledge of good and evil. Whether one eats the good part or the evil part, the result is death. The letter kills! According to Galatians 3:10 "For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse,..."

Just as the tree was attractive to Eve, law-keeping in order to be like God is the standard in many churches today. Satan's ministers of righteousness who act and sound very moral are preaching the broad road that leads to destruction from the pulpit and many are on it. This is how you spot them: their own method of attaining righteousness is through what YOU must do and not through what CHRIST has done, in stark contrast with God's word. Believers, let's not be found here.

No amount of obedience to the Ten Commandments can contribute a speck of righteousness to anyone's account before God (see Romans 3:20.) Just as eating of the tree only made Adam and Eve see their nakedness, the law simply shows us how sinful we are. It cannot make anyone godly. See Romans 3:20-

"For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are."

Doing things in order to get right with God means rejecting the price that Christ paid to make us righteous apart from our works; this is where Satan wants everyone to be because it is the surefire way to get cut off from Christ: "For if you are trying to make yourself right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace." Galatians 5:4.

Romans 6:14 says "For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace." Keep the law and sin will have dominion. But somehow, the church has it backwards, saying grace is license to sin. Have you noticed that the church is sinning without license?

Believers, the law is God's word and it will not return to Him void. We must fulfill it or we all die. But "no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands." God saw how hopeless our case was and sent His own Son to die in our place, because He loved us so. See Romans 5:19- "For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous."

In place of our perpetual state of nakedness (unrighteousness) that was as a result of the sin nature inherited from Adam, in Christ, we are clothed in His own righteousness that He died that we might have, as it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:21-

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

This is the only brand of righteousness that cuts it with our Righteous God. Anything outside this is unacceptable. Even abominable - filthy rags. We are accepted in the Beloved. This is grace - unmerited favour. But does this mean we can now go on sinning sprees? Certainly not! Without Christ saving from sins, no one can stand. With Christ as your righteousness, you cannot continue to sin, and not by your own effort but by His grace. See Romans 5:17-

"For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ."

With God's gift of righteousness comes no condemnation. It is our Saviour's "Neither do I condemn you" that makes us "go and sin no more."
