God gives us ALL things FREELY with Christ

Believer, believe right. In Christ, we don't have to make appointments, fast, grovel, pay tithe and sow seed in order to position ourselves for God's blessings or get God to bless; as if He is reluctant to bless and demands some form of payment, our giving something up or us enduring some form of discomfort first before He blesses us. Our heavenly Father has lavished on all who believe every blessing that we can and can't imagine upon Christ's death and resurrection for us and as us. Ephesians 1:3 says:

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,"

"Spiritual blessing" here does not mean intangible blessing or blessings we cannot see. They are blessings given by God who is Spirit to all who believe. See the Amplified Classic version:

"May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!"

So why are many not seeing these blessings manifested? We see why in Galatians 5:4-

"For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace."

Trying to get right with God or trying to better position oneself to receive His blessings by means of obeying the law cuts one off from Christ. Since God "has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ," the one who is cut off from Christ by trying to obey the law and do stuff like sow seed and pay tithe in order to get right with God cannot enjoy His blessing. Worse, this one is under the curse:

"But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under His curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”" Galatians 3:10.

Believer, by grace, let's not be found here.

Understand the purpose of Christ's death and why God raised Him from the dead: Romans 4:25- "Who was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised up because of our being declared righteous."

The TPT puts it this way: "Jesus was handed over to be crucified for the forgiveness of our sins and was raised back to life to prove that He had made us right with God!"

Believer, Christ's resurrection is the divine evidence that we have been made righteous forever and apart from works. He fulfilled the law for us. Trying to obey the law and doing its works in order to get right with God or get His blessing is to deny Christ's resurrection. See the effect of Christ's finished work at the cross in Romans 8:32-

"He who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

Notice FREELY...and not because we fasted, obeyed the law or sowed seed in order to ginger God to bless us or curry His favour as many pastors teach today? Because of such wrong teaching, many churchgoers are trying to be godly and striving to earn God's freely-given blessings with obedience to the law, tithes, seeds and fasts. Satan knows that these things only serve to cut one off from Christ so his ministers are actively misrepresenting our heavenly Father who gives us all things FREELY with Christ as a "Give to Get" Father. No, friend! Only through the sacrifice of Christ are we godly/righteous in God's sight, freely enjoy His blessings and escape His wrath: Romans 5:9-

"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."

God gave up His own Son that we might have His righteousness as a gift. In Christ, our heavenly Father sees us as righteous through and through, even though we don't have it all together: Romans 5:16-

"And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins."

In Christ, our Abba Father has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Our part is to believe and receive, freely and without terms and conditions of law-keeping, seeds and all sorts of barriers  that some "men of God" put up (e.g. sow a seed to secure the future of your children) to prevent believers from freely receiving from God. This is the same way the law-toting Pharisees tried to put up a barrier of the Law of the Sabbath between the man with the deformed hand that Christ healed and his ability to freely receive his healing from Jesus. These works of the law only serve to cut one off from Christ and subsequently from the riches of His grace aka undeserved, unmerited favour. But many are trying to earn it!

The reason why many are not freely receiving is because many do not know that in Christ, God gives us ALL things FREELY; His open arms held nothing back. Many are trying to earn God's blessings with law-keeping, tithes and fasts but His blessings in Christ are not for sale or barter. They are freely given to all who believe in Jesus- having Him as our Righteousness. Of ourselves, we have/are nothing and can do nothing to get the blessing.

But does this mean that we should just sit on our hands and not do God's work? Believer, understand the only work that God wants us to do from the mouth of our Saviour Himself after some religious people asked Him a similar question: John 6-

28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?” 29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent.”"

Remember believing in Jesus is believing that: "Jesus was handed over to be crucified for the forgiveness of our sins and was raised back to life to prove that He had made us right with God!" Romans 4:25. To believe in Jesus is to believe that in Him, all of our sins are forgiven; that we are forever righteous in God's sight because of His shed blood and that His blessings for us are freely-given with Christ; no terms and conditions like "go and sow seed so that God can secure the future of your children" attached. This is the work that God wants us to do: believe in Jesus Christ. The result:

In Christ, we are like a vessel under the gushing and ever-flowing tap of God's abundance of Grace (unmerited favour,) filled to overflowing. He freely and continuously fills us to overflowing with His freely-given blessings so much that with what is always spilling over, we can't help but be a blessing to those around us, even if we tried. We can't contain it. We GET TO work and give from the abundance of His undeserved, unmerited favour (Grace) that He freely and generously lavishes on us to overflowing; we GET TO live right and give beyond the lawful regulations of the tithe without even knowing it. But others will notice. This is why, on the last day, we will ask our Saviour when it was that we did all the good things He will tell us that we did. Christ does it all. This makes it impossible for us to boast about things like- "God blessed me financially because I obeyed the law, sowed seed and paid my tithe..." Notice Christ has been removed from this equation of salvation from poverty? In Christ, we know that this is the only reason for our prosperity: 1 Cor. 8:9-

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."

This "rich" that Christ made us is not in terms of things like love, compassion and kindness. Jesus was rich in all of these when He walked the earth as Man. The chapter references giving in terms of money and tangible items. Notice it is by grace - undeserved, unearned, unmerited favour- that we are rich and not because we "played our part" by obeying the law or doing its works of sowing seed or paying tithe as false teachers whose aim is to get the flock doing things to earn God's freely-given blessings teach? Following their teaching only serves to cut one off from Christ (Gal. 5:4)

Believer, ask our Abba Father to rid your heart and mind of every wrong theology and doctrine that makes you put confidence in your own human effort at obeying the law to be godly or overcoming sin. The arm of flesh will fail. Know that the reason why we are not committing particular sins is because we have not been tempted beyond what we can bear in those areas. The potential to commit heinous crimes is in everybody. God sees this potential and how favourable circumstances can make some people think that some sins are beneath them and that they can obey the law.

The Yoruba have a proverb that roughly translates into "it is the child that raises up his hands that gets picked up." Not so with Christ. He came for the totally helpless that cannot even lift a finger; no room for those that think they can "at least try" to stop sinning and obey the law by their own power.

There is also that demonic saying that goes "heaven helps those who helps themselves." No, friend. The one who can help himself even the tiniest bit does not need Jesus. He came for the helpless: the lost, the last, the least. We can do nothing to deserve or earn His blessings. They are freely given to all who are in Christ.

This is Grace- undeserved, unearned, unmerited favour. If we could do something to deserve it, it is no longer grace, and ONLY "by grace through faith" are we saved.

Believe Right and you will Live Right
