Grace is moral excellence-personified.

Believers, there are some who try to replace the grace of our Lord with sheer license to sin. Others say Grace is not enough to transform the believer to living a life of moral excellence and so preach that false doctrine that says:

"Yes we are saved by Grace through faith but you still have to keep the Law as a guiding principle for morality/in order to be godly/in order to be worthy at the Rapture, etc."

These people are not under Grace but under the control of Satan the accuser. Their objective is to make believers become lukewarm  - neither cold nor hot; neither under Law nor under Grace; trying to add to Christ's finished work their own (self) righteousnesses from law-keeping which Isaiah describes as "a menstrual rag" in God's sight in Isaiah 64:6:

"We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in Your sight."

Jude spoke of these scoundrels in Jude 1 and described them as spots in our love feasts, greedy and rebellious. See Jude 1:3-4 (MSG) -

Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish. What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious skin are shameless scoundrels. Their design is to replace the sheer grace of our God with sheer license—which means doing away with Jesus Christ, our one and only Master.”

Such people that Jude wrote about seem very religious but are shameless scoundrels. They do away with Jesus Christ. Their testimonies always run along the lines of:

  • "Sow your car and God will give you a jet."
  • "Pay tithe or else God will let the devourer devour your finances."
  • "Fast for 70 days to break generational curses and become free from the curse."

This trade by barter arrangement contradicts the word of God -

- Galatians 3:13 tells us: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law..." There is nothing like generational or other curse in the life of a believer in Christ and we do nothing to deserve it.

- 2 Corinthians 8:9 tells us: "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." In Christ, God fills us to overflowing with His goodness and mercy so much that with what is spilling over we can't help but be a blessing to those around us. So we just cannot boast in the arm of flesh (human effort.)

Notice no Christ saving/providing/delivering in these Christ-professing scoundrels' equations? Their "trade by barter" arrangement is a testament to rejecting the finished work of Christ in making the sinner who believes righteous and reconciling us to the Almighty God. For we who are in Christ, the Almighty God is FATHER; He is our DADDY. With Christ, God gives us all things FREELY and without terms and conditions. Romans 8:32 says of Him:

"He who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

The spirit of the antichrist is not anti-God. It seeks to reduce/remove Christ from the equation of salvation for the sinner. It preaches dependence on the arm of flesh (human effort) that will fail as the means of attaining godliness (be like God,) just as Satan did with Eve in the garden of Eden when he told her she could be godly by human effort.

Can you imagine your own kids trying to do "trade by barter" with you so that you can heal them when they are sick, pay their school fees or buy them unnecessary and expensive holidays, even when they mess things up? Their behaviour and morality is a function of the training that you give to them. Believer, in Christ, God Himself is our Father and Trainer. Christ says of Him in Matthew 7:

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!"

Would you really ask your children to fast for 70 days before you offer them protection or destroy anyone who tries to kill them? Believer, it is our heavenly Father's heart's desire to see us blessed and living a life of moral excellence. And we get to do both by Grace.

These people who say God's grace is license to sin are not of Christ and their behaviour should not make anyone try to “help God” by introducing the Law to keep New Covenant believers in check. See Paul's analogy of Hagar and Sarah as the two covenants of Law and Grace in Galatians 4: Sarah (GRACE) did not need Hagar (LAW) to raise Isaac (the church- you and I in Christ.) Cast out the bondwoman and her son! Believer, Grace is a Person. His name is Jesus Christ. Titus 2:11 says of Him:

"God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone."

Grace is more than enough to give us ALL that we need pertaining life and godliness. Verse 14 of the same Titus 2 says of Him:

"He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."

Pastors and leaders, there's no need to help the Holy Spirit to do His work of transforming believers to the image of the glory of the Lord by putting them under the Law. No human is that good a transformer! The Law condemns all who attempt to be godly (be like God) by keeping it. See the "forbidden fruit" as a picture of the law that many are trying so hard to keep in order to be godly aka "be like God" in Romans 7:8-12 (MSG):

"Don’t you remember how it was? I do, perfectly well. The law code started out as an excellent piece of work. What happened, though, was that sin found a way to pervert the command into a temptation, making a piece of “forbidden fruit” out of it. The law code, instead of being used to guide me, was used to seduce me."

Believer, don't let any minister of Satan seduce you into believing that keeping the law will make you godly (be like God.)This is the broad road that leads to destruction and many churchgoers are on it. The purpose of this false doctrine is to cut believers off from Christ the narrow gate: Galatians 5:4 says-

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.”

God Himself made the Way for us to be godly and it has got nothing to do with human effort. Our godliness/right-standing with God is through God's gift of Grace to us alone- Christ Himself; Isaiah prophesied of His suffering for us and what He would accomplish in Isaiah 53:11-

"After He has suffered, He will see the light of life. And He will be satisfied. My godly Servant will make many people godly because of what He will accomplish. He will be punished for their sins."

Christ's blood is the only currency that suffices to purchase for us righteousness in the sight of God and makes us escape His wrath- see Romans 5:9-

"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."

2 Corinthians 3:18 says the Spirit of the Lord transforms us to "the image of His glory...," not the Law, you or I:

But we all with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are being transformed to the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

False teachers trust the arm of flesh (human effort at doing right) that will fail to transform the sinner to live right but distrust the power of the Holy Spirit to transform the sinner who believes to right living.

Point the people to God's grace and according to Titus 2, Grace (our Saviour Jesus Christ Himself) is the one that teaches us to shun ungodliness and worldly lusts, not you or I.

The letter kills but the Spirit gives life. The Law was given through Moses but Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ. The Law is not of faith and without faith, it is impossible to please God. Believers, fight with everything you have in you for this gift of faith! The Law voids faith.

When you preach the Law, you are putting the people under condemnation and the curse/judgment will follow those that accept this condemnation by trying to get right with God by their own efforts, all after Christ has died to make us righteous in God's sight.

When the love of God, expressed in His undeserved, unmerited favour (Grace - our Saviour Jesus Christ) towards us, is unveiled from the pulpit, the people will live right. We love because He first loved us. Only by receiving God's abundance of grace and His gift of righteousness to us in Christ do we get to live in triumph over sin and death (including all symptoms of death such as stress, sickness, stupid mistakes, depression, lack and every earthly ill): See Romans 5:

16 "And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ."

Believe Right and you will Live Right.
