The truth about Isaiah 54:15: “Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.”

Believers, has anyone ever warned you to “be careful because I had a dream/vision where people are plotting your downfall” and such, all while you were happily minding your own business? Have they gone as far as telling you things about yourself that you know they have no way of knowing? Did they tell you that unless you do such and such by your own power, something bad will happen to you? After you heard their "prophecy," did it happen that you got worried, fearful and couldn’t think about or concentrate on anything else? Then these words of our Saviour Jesus in John 14:27 are for you! –

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

The Lord Himself says of us in Isaiah 54:15:

Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.”

Believer, these "seers" or "prophets" who bring news of people plotting your downfall are not saying anything new. Our Lord God has already told us and still tells us:

Indeed they shall surely assemble,...”

He even used "indeed" and "surely" to make us see that this phenomenon is by far surer than sunrise and sunset. There will be gatherings against God's children. This is God's word and it will not return to Him void. But these "prophets" make you think that a gathering against you is something strange that you should be afraid of. Whether we are aware of the gathering or not does not matter. If the Lord chooses to make us aware of it, it is definitely not so that we should become fearful and start following that horrid "trade by barter" arrangement of doing things like going to spend days on some mountain without eating or “sow a seed” in order to escape danger or ginger God to save or bless. How could our heavenly Father demand payment from us for our salvation when Romans 8:32 says:

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

FREELY.

Verse 14 of Isaiah 54 sets those who can enjoy God's promise of "Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake” apart from those who cannot. See the verses in their context:

14 "In righteousness you shall be established;
You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
And from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.
16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmith
Who blows the coals in the fire,
Who brings forth an instrument for his work;
And I have created the spoiler to destroy.
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord."

These promises are for those who are established in the Lord’s Righteousness, not theirs from keeping the Law. We know it is the Lord’s Righteousness and not our own obedience because Romans 3:10 says:

As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;…”

Also Romans 3:20- "For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the Law commands. The Law simply shows us how sinful we are."

Man's best efforts at trying to be righteous are like a menstrual rag in God's sight:  Isaiah 64:6 says- “We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in Your sight."

And how are we established in the Lord’s Righteousness? God Himself made the Way for us to be established in His righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says of Him:

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

 Romans 5:9 tells us how God sees all who believe in Jesus - having Him as our Righteousness:

"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."

But these "seers" and "prophets" come to tell you who believe that God's wrath will still fall on you unless you go and fast for 70 days, sow a seed  or do "sàárà" before God can save you. You'll notice that the finished work of Christ in saving us from wrath does not feature in their equation of salvation. It is always what you must do to save yourself and not what Christ has done to save you.

Believer, by Grace, don't be fazed or afraid when they perform their "miracles" or give you personal details about you and your family even though you have never met with them before and they have no way of knowing these details. They have a network of spirits that live in hosts (people) that you might know. Just as armed robbers use an insider to rob a bank, they too have demons and hosts that share information. But how can they touch you when you are under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91)? How can they harm you when the Lord Himself is your righteousness? Proverbs 12:21 says of we who have Christ as our righteousness:

"No harm befalls the righteous, But the wicked are filled with trouble."

Believer, the above verse is God's word concerning you and I in Christ! So don't be afraid or let anyone bully you into getting under the curse of the Law by making you do things to save yourself. Our Lord God counsels us in Isaiah 30:15-17:

"God, the Master, The Holy of Israel,
    has this solemn counsel:
“Your salvation requires you to turn back to Me
    and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves.
Your strength will come from settling down
    in complete dependence on Me—..."

Believer, whatever is gathering against you to destroy was created by God. He says to us in Isaiah 54:

16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmith
Who blows the coals in the fire,
Who brings forth an instrument for his work;
And I have created the spoiler to destroy."

No destroyer can act against you without God's permission; the same God who created the spoiler that destroys IS FOR YOU. Think about that. Christ has won it all for all who believe. Depend WHOLLY on Him and be saved. Romans 10:9-10 says:

9 "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

"Salvation" here is not just being saved to go to heaven; it is deliverance from the molestation of enemies and redemption from all earthly ills (anxiety, depression, sickness, lack, stupid mistakes, etc.) It is being saved from the penalty, power, presence and pleasure of sin. The word used in the original Greek text of the New Testament is Swthria (pronounced soteria) and it encompasses all these meanings.

The second you are established in the Lord's righteousness - believing that Christ's obedience has made you righteous in God's sight- simply confess with your mouth God's word of faith that you believe in your heart whenever those "prophets" come with their evil prophecies and their human effort-driven terms and conditions that they say you need to fulfill before you can be saved. Christ has finished the work of our salvation. Believe it. Speak it. See it.

Believers, let’s not be deceived. These "prophets" are not saying anything new! Like Satan the accuser, their job is to accuse, condemn and peddle fear (the underlying theme of their message is always fear) and make you believe that you need to do some things in order for God who freely gives to all who are in Christ to rescue you. This points to the law (giving to get from God who gives us all things freely with Christ.) Those that are of the works of the law are under the curse according to Galatians 3:10 –

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse;…”

Galatians 5:4 says Christ is of no effect to those in this category: "For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law you have been cut off Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace."

This is smack where the devil wants everyone to be – discarding God's gift of righteousness to us in Jesus Christ and embracing righteousnesses obtained via works of the law so that we can be condemned (the law condemns all) and fall under its judgment after he carries out his job of accusing the brethren! The Lord forbids it for we His beloved in Christ!

Believers, we have already been rescued and not because of what we did or didn’t do; they “shall fall for your sake” because the Lord said so and not because you do things to avert whatever using the arm of flesh that will fail!

If you knew that there was a dog waiting to bite your child right outside your door, what would you do? You’d do your best to keep your child safe and kill the dog! How much more our heavenly Father who loves us much more than we could ever love our children!

Verse 17 of the same Isaiah 54 says:

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the LORD."

Notice that this blessing is not earned by fasting and prayer or any work of the law. It is an inheritance (heritage) for those whose righteousness is from the Lord, not their efforts at keeping the law or getting right with Him.

Romans 10:10 says “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

This salvation (in the original Greek) is not just being saved from hell to heaven. It also encompasses God's protection; deliverance from the power, pleasure and penalty of sin and addiction; deliverance from molestations by the enemy and deliverance from sickness, lack, fear, unbelief and all earthly ills.

Believe it with your heart. Confess it with your mouth. Meditate on it day and night (mutter it under your breath and think on it!) and see it! Even these things we do by His grace alone!

Don’t worry if you don’t know what bible verse to quote for what situation. Don’t worry if you don’t remember any! Remember, “Be anxious over nothing…”  Ask our heavenly Father in Christ and the Holy Spirit will teach you all things, even bring to your remembrance all the memory verses that you learned at those Sunday school sessions that your parents forced you to attend when you were much younger:) Right now and always, in Christ, He covers us with His feathers.

Believe Right and you will Live Right.
