What we need is Grace and in hyper-abounding supply

.Believer, by God's Grace, let's watch out lest we fall into that pit of pride and foolishness that makes one think that he has some good in him of himself; that pit of pride that gets one thinking that "some churchgoers" enjoy living in their sins and are "not like us" who don't want to commit sin:)

I submit to you that most churchgoers are looking for the WAY out of their sins and addictions just like everybody else. Such people go to church looking for Salvation from sin and death and are given more laws/rules/regulations to keep and more accusations and condemnation to add to the ones they already carry in their hearts - straight from the pulpit where Christ as our Saviour from sins should be preached!

Then there's the reminder of the threat of judgment if they don't stop sinning, as if they were not already trying hard enough to stop sinning! This is why many young people don't like going to church. The yoke of the Law and the burden of Guilt that Christ gave Himself to free us from is being placed and reinforced in the lives of many straight from some pulpits. Believer, watch what you are hearing in your local church. Christ says in Matthew 11-

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Remember He told the experts in religious law (a picture of pastors who tell you that your salvation is dependent on your ability to keep the Law and sow seed) in Luke 11:46-

" Jesus answered, “How terrible for you, you teachers of the law! You make strict rules that are very hard for people to obey. But you yourselves don’t even try to follow those rules.""

Many churchgoers who are labouring under the burden of the Law and are heavy-laden with guilt can find no rest in their place of worship. I was talking with a friend one day and she got so passionate telling me about how she had gone above and beyond in her service to God. She ended with "Still, I have no rest." Many churchgoers are being told to go and do things by their own will-power (arm of flesh) in order to find the rest that Christ gives freely to all who come to Him for salvation just as they are - with all their luggage of sins and addictions.

Isaiah 64:6 describes all of man's efforts at producing righteousness thus - "We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in Your sight."

Beloved of God, Christ died to make you righteous and to save you from those same sins that you struggle with. Matthew 1:21 says of Him-

"She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Why wash yourself with your own righteousnesses that are like a menstrual rag in God's sight according to Isaiah 64:6? Believer, why attempt to maintain your righteousness and be perfect before God with your "menstrual rag" righteousnesses from trying to keep the Law after you have been washed clean and made righteous in God's sight through Christ's blood? Romans 5:9 says of how God sees we who believe in Jesus-

"And there is still much more to say of His unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in My sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God."

Anyone Christian that is trying to keep the Law in order to get right with God is just staining himself with menstruation rags and has been cut off from Christ-

"For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's Grace." Galatians 5:4.

Believer, the arm of flesh  (human effort at obedience) will fail. Trying to live a godly life by human striving at keeping the Law and doing good works is as useless as an HIV carrier putting plaster on a wound that is as a result of his immunodeficiency. The plaster is pointless. Telling people that they can overcome sins if only they clench their teeth hard enough and re-double their efforts at keeping the Law is an effort in futility. What  churchgoers need is Salvation (in Hebrew - Yeshua,) not accusations, condemnation or an addition to the burden of the Law that is already killing them. See this reflected in God's word in Romans 7:3-8 (MSG) -

3"...The law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it. And now what the law code asked for but we couldn’t deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.
5-8 Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored."

The letter (Law) kills but the Spirit gives life, and with the Spirit of the Lord, it is neither by might nor by power. As soon as one surrenders his will to the Lord Jesus Christ and is no longer putting "plaster" on his sins in order to be holy, that HIV-like sin nature that causes one to produce sins is no more. Health (righteous living) will return naturally. But pride in the arm of flesh at living a righteous life prevents many from enjoying God's saving Grace that saves us from our sins.

Believer, by God's grace, let's not be found focusing on what we can do of ourselves to be godly or do whatever good deed but on what Christ has done. Then, like the helpless branch that we are but strong in the Vine and held steadfast in His Righteousness and His Strength, we get to bear "much fruit."

What the people need is Grace and in hyper-abounding supply. Grace is a Person. His name is Jesus Christ. Titus 2:11 says of Him-

"God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone."

There is no point in telling a churchgoer (helpless sinner) who is living in filthy darkness (sins) how dark (filthy with sins) his room is and how he will stumble and break his neck if he does not stop living in darkness (committing sins.) Any attempt to clean himself and his room up in the darkness (law-keeping) will cause him to stumble, fall and create a bigger mess. Just bring in the Light (Jesus Christ the Light of the world) and the darkness (sins) will disappear. Matthew 1:21 says of Him-

"She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Also Titus 2:14- "He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."

Believer, with Christ as our Light (Righteousness,) our path is like the morning sun that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. He is our Righteousness. Of ourselves, we have no righteousness and can produce none.

By Grace, let's live our lives by the mantra - "None of self, all of Christ" - putting no confidence in our own human effort at obedience (arm of flesh) or relying on what we think we know or can do to be saved from sins, earthly ills and death in hell. By Grace, let's live life trusting in and utterly dependent on Jesus Christ our Righteousness and our Strength for every detail of our lives. This is right believing.

When your believing is right, right living will follow. In Christ, we get to bear "much fruit. '" He says so in John 15:5-

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

Antichrist pastors describe God's Grace as license to sin BUT GOD'S WORD SAYS DIFFERENTLY: Only by receiving God's abundance of Grace and His gift of righteousness to us in Christ do we get to live in triumph over sin and death: Romans 5:16-17:

"And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ."

Believe right and you will live right.
